To design and develop a bespoke warehouse management system and app to manage all cargo shipments arriving at the client's UK facility near Heathrow Airport, with the aim of dramatically reducing the amount of paper record-keeping and automating key business processes including the distribution of client reports in real-time.
Our system enables office-based employees to add shipments through a web-based back office admin interface, while the warehouse team can process each shipment in real-time using our bespoke app. Intake reports and release notes are automatically generated by the system in PDF format and emailed to the client, providing unparalleled insights into the progress of shipments.
Evidence of any shipping damages can be captured via the app using the tablet's built-in camera, providing clarity throughout the supply chain. Any clients with stock levels in the warehouse also automatically receive a stock report document by email every morning.
Additional capabilities include automated printing of cargo labels from the app to a thermal printer in the warehouse and the automatic syncing of report documents to the client's existing in-house freight management software.
Our system currently processes over 35,000 shipments annually, sending out over a quarter of a million transactional emails per year to customers and staff. Following the success of the new system and we have subsequently designed and built a bespoke system to manage the client's export facility in Nairobi, Kenya. We are now collaborating with the client to design a region-specific version of the cargo system to be launched in Johannesburg, South Africa.
